Credibility, reputation and communication
Communication & Reputation
As Fitness Professionals communication and your reputation are KEY !It is Vital to communicate :
- with your prospect clients and existing clients
- with your employers / work agencies
- with work colleagues
Work your network ! The old saying “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” still very much applies in today's work culture.
Credibility, reputation and communication are closely linked.
Good communication skills are key to success in work relationships
Poor communication can quickly send your reputation and credibility down the drain, even if it’s only one time.
What is communication ? It is a combination of skills of we can call them this:
- Content & tone of Communication:You might want to chose to your style of Communication: are you a "more formal" sort of person or do you prefer to keep your communication casual friendly ? Find one that is you that represents the style of Fit Pro that you are. Chose your style, experiment with it and adapt it to whom you are communicating with.
- Timing:Very often it is better to air things out by bringing thing out in the open and discuss things.Deal with things as when they happen. There is no better time as now! It's one of the one minute manager strategy. A quick response shows you are engaged. Except for the case of answering to a complaint in which case it is always best to "sleep on a complaint reply". Focus on looking at ways to fix a problem instead of defending your position.Be Proactive rather than reactive : bringing up possible issues before they become issues.
- Regularity:Keep in touch on regular basis with your clients, former-clients and colleagues. It is very important as this is your network. Remember to look after the relationships you already have! Asking work colleagues out for a coffee can never go astray. If they’ve done something for you, remember to give thanks and appreciation.Don’t wait too long before correct misperceptions.
- And remember ...“The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.” - President John F. Kennedy therefore work on all this before you actually need it as it takes time !
